The type S2 utilizes a friction drive accomplished through an interference fit between a rotary, the rubber o-ring and the shaft. With this arrangement the driving torque is not transmitted through the coil spring, the seal can be used regardless of rotational direction and no other anti-rotational components are required. The unique rubber o-ring secondary seal provides a high degree of axial flexibility to compensate for misalignment and lack of concentricity to the shaft and functions without shaft wear due to thrust movement of the shaft. The type S2 seal is conventional general purpose mechanical seal, which can be applied to various types of pumps.
